'Run It Once' to launch a brand new poker site

There has been a lot of talk recently about Run It Once preparing to launch a new poker software platform. Currently, Run It Once is an online poker training site owned by Phil Galfond, one of the most popular and well-respected poker players of recent times, but he has recently announced that development work has started on a fullly fledged, real-money poker site.

He plans on building his own online poker site to take on the likes of 888 Poker, Party Poker, iPoker and the juggernaut that is PokerStars.

In August, he released a blog post entitled 'A Poker Site Should', which was the first real announcement to the public and gave us all a glimpse of what we can expect when he releases the new site early in 2017.

Starting a new poker site is never easy, and we've seen many try and fail over the last decade, but we feel like this has the potential to succeed.

Firstly, PokerStars is currently out of favour with a lot of the online poker community. After recently changing ownership, PokerStars has copped a lot of flak about their newly revamped rewards system and increased rake. After much criticism, PokerStars still don't seem to be listening to their customer base and are more concerned about the profit for shareholders. This is always an important part of business, but when you are controlled by the bottom line, the customer experience can often suffer. Galfond seems genuinely concerned about player satisfaction.

Phil Galfond is already a successful businessman and has the capability to grow Run It Once into a site that can compete with PokerStars.

Don't expect things to move too quickly though. Building a poker site is complex and time consuming. Even if you ignore the effort of building the software that's required to flawlessly deal millions of hands every day, you also need to think about security concerns, legal issues, customer support and gambling licenses.

We'd imagine that when the site first begins operating they will start with a very limited offering of game types and gradually add more features in the future. Phil recently spoke about this on the 2plus2 PokerCast - we could certainly sense the trepidation and excitement when he spoke about the new site.

Unfortunately, the site won't initially be available to US residents.

The ChipMeUp team is pretty excited by 'Run It Once' poker and we wish Phil and his team the best of luck on the new venture! We'd love to know what you think. Can Run It Once make it? Would you play poker there? Are you annoyed with the current online offerings? Do PokerStars need a shake up?

I hope it will not end as FTP that was also created by players and then was taken over by Pokerstars…

What is important in my congregation’s is security about the transfer of money to and From these poker sites. It should be instant or equal pokerstars. 888 and Party is too slow with the pay-out. So if those manage to build something that goes fast increases in connection with withdrawals and has a support which is much better than pokerstars. Then I’m with Phil Galfond insta. It will be fun to follow. Hope CMU positioning themselves against his site at an early stage. GL all

Pokerstars need a competitor who understand we all want fair poker and not discussions about rigged RNG’s every day for 365 days a year!Good players must be able to win more then the so called donkeys in the long run!Even in the short run:))

The owner of the pokersite BWIN once said their RNG was made to let the donkeys, fish win more or it would only be sharks left on the site and that would not be good for their business! The clip can be found online!

Plenty of great pokerplayers are not winning players on Pokerstars and other sites!WHY?They are winning players in live poker!OK,it’s random on Stars?Anyhow,I have read thick books about the every day jokes on Stars!People play many hands and jokes happen live as well!

Ofcourse it does! But good players should be able to get more than a few FT’s a year if they really focus on how to play great poker!I saw one hand from AQUAS table the other day and it made no sense at all!The player must have been drunk or without IQ!Or having a program so he could see the cards coming!

If the new site offers a new random RNG like in live poker!Sure, then it would be interesting to adapt harder to play 100 % on a weekly basis!Everything I have written above is what I have heard from the poker community about Stars and other online sites!

I have also my doubts! If the new pokersite Run It Twice compete with Stars Gtd MTT’s,sure, then I believe it will be a sucess!Lower rakes as well will help!I hope this will start a new trend in the pokerworld!Good Luck – DIAMONDxxx

I read this on RIO’s forum!

I will now touch one more important issue which is mainly avoided and that on its own is a bit “suspicious” to me. I hope RIO poker room will be different and will take/consider this seriously.

I will first post a text I found on one forum about 4 years ago (my English is not very good and this guy explains the problem, I have noticed too, better) and in my opinion is one of the most important issues of online poker.

Quote(his nick scl1975):hi all,im letting BRMers know first.i have applied to the Australian government for a grant to independantly check 3 of the biggest sites software after the RNG has done its job!

What this means is the RNG[random number generator]is only checked and verified after the hand has been delt, not after the flop comes out.

in other word the cards delt are random, but the sites arnt checked for what the software does after the dealing to players.is there manipulation after the deal.this is the unknown entity to online playing.

the australian government has sent me airfare to meet with the reserve bank about the grant, which means the are interested, and provide them with more details.they have said also that the federal police would like to send a computer specialist with me if grant is given to verify all results.

this may have far reaching consiquences to all online .the hard part is going to be to get the sites to agree to the though intrusion of there software, while also asking for million of millions of played hands to check all data outside of what the RNG does.

its going to be a massive task so wish me luck.if they have nothing to hide access will be granted. Then finally online if the results realy are true and random, with no manipulation, can say they are not rigged.will post with updates as i find out more details. Smile End of Quote.

After I red this and heard none of poker sites allowed this testing I stopped playing online poker.I dont want to speculate anything but I decide to boycot nontransparent poker sites (untill now all of them) whom only goal is “profit over the dead bodies” and are prepared to do anything for it.

If they really are fair, as they like to brag about it,they should welcome such tests, but they didnt. So, I think it is very important how those RNG certifikates(tests) are done and by whom (and that is another story).

I strongly belive if RIO poker room will do proper RNG tests, from deal to river/end of hands with possible later audits, that will have very positive impact on all poker players (with proper promotion of this tests it will bring even more players to poker site, fishes too:)),but will sure not get so positive reaction from other poker sites and their promotors.

Yes,it will probably cause “turbulence” but thats how changes are made and I think it is worth to fight for. This is important for poker game on larger scale.

And please dont make “rigged/non rigged” thread from my post now (some will probably try to blur a problem,to defocus). It is not about that,it is about how strong, powerful, honest, etc.

tests of shuffle&deal engine should/could be. Better and improved tests cant harm anyone (exept cheaters), we all only benefit from it.

as aikon said,, fast payouts are important and also better customer service than stars. if this site has scheduled omaha mtts and maybe also omaha sngs, i would definetly give it a try.
