Description

I will be playing only one event at the Chicago Poker Classic, and that is Event #6 $1100 Heads Up NL Hold'em.  I've been looking forward to this event since the beginining of 2010.  Last year they added a Porsche for the winner, but I was at the LA Poker Classic and couldn't make it.  This year, the casino is adding $40,000 to the prize pool.  The field is capped at 256 players, and word on the street is that around 70 seats will be given away to cash game players.  This means that the field should be very soft.  Not to mention that the tournament is 3 days and has a generous structure.

Heads up is my favorite game as there is just one opponent to worry about.  Live heads up tournaments are hard to come by, so I've only played a few.  But I cashed in the Caesars $1k heads up in 2009 and went got 3rd in a heads up freeroll in early 2009 (1st was a seat at NBC Heads Up, and there were 213 runners).

I am not charging anything for travel even though it's costing me quite a bit in flights & hotel.  I do, however, reserve the right to tip up to 2% of my winnings before paying out my shares.  I will require SSN's for wins over $200 from US residents. If you're in a non-tax treaty country, I reserve the right to withhold 30% for taxes per my accountant. If you do not agree with any of these terms, please do not buy any shares.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss any of my policies, please do not hesitate to private message me.  I respond to every PM I receive.

Thanks to all my buyers for your continued support!

Thx guys, pretty stoked to have sold out my first event on CMU. I just registered via phone yesterday and am entrant #102. En route to Chicago via Toronto right now. Will post updates as I can during the event to http://twitter.com/veeRob

Funny story… I work on the Big Game and introduced myself to Tony G yesterday. I don’t think he really knew who I was. lol :)

top2pr (9 years ago - 27 Feb 2011 00:17 UTC)

I bought .40% in Hussainajwani for this event.

Just got to the casino. Theyre a bit disorganized so itll probably start around 1.

Kwilk47 (9 years ago - 01 Mar 2011 18:44 UTC)

Do work Rob! Good Luck!

veeRob (9 years ago - 01 Mar 2011 18:57 UTC)

Staring at my first opponent now. He looks like a grinder. Was hoping for a fish. Oh well a lot of play I got work to do.

Kwilk47 (9 years ago - 01 Mar 2011 22:04 UTC)

nice job in that first match. Keep up the good work!

Kwilk47 (9 years ago - 02 Mar 2011 02:10 UTC)

Great job Rob! Keep up the good work!

Made it through to day 2! One more win and we’re in the money.

The first match was pretty tough. My opponent was a competent player and would not let me see many flops. I lost a big pot early when I held 9T on a 97695 board. I let him bet my hand the whole way, and he of course got there with 87. I was able to double up when I 5-bet all in from the BB w/66, and he called with AQ. That huge flip gave me the lead, and I closed it out when I held 97 on a JJ9 board and faded his QT.

The second match started awful. I held KThh and check called his bets on a 2-heart board. We checked the river and he showed down an overplayed 88 that turned out to be good. I doubled up when I held 96 on a 965 flop and 5-bet all in. He called with Q9 and my hand held. My final hand was JT on a KQxA board vs his KQ. Faded the 4-outer.

Should be an interesting day tomorrow as I have a flight home scheduled for 9:30pm… if I win 2 matches, I’ll miss my flight and work the next day. Good problem to have though, I guess. lol

MDMWINS (9 years ago - 02 Mar 2011 09:00 UTC)

AWSOME GL MAN!!!! KEEP IT UP AND ANOTHER WIN ON THE WAY :)

Luckbox1608 (9 years ago - 02 Mar 2011 19:17 UTC)

ITM – now go all the way :)

hussainsajwani (9 years ago - 02 Mar 2011 19:31 UTC)

lol wow. after i busted my HU i was at a cash table and one young kid was talking about how he lost AQ vs 66 in a 5bet shove pot in HU. lol what a coincidence.

Luckbox1608 (9 years ago - 02 Mar 2011 19:37 UTC)

lol

veeRob (9 years ago - 02 Mar 2011 20:29 UTC)

If that’s for real, that’s pretty funny. Guy couldn’t believe 5bet shoved with sixes, but hey, a pair is a pair.

Just had some Giordano’s pizza for lunch, so the next guy has no shot lol. Actually, I may be half asleep by then. :)

MDMWINS (9 years ago - 02 Mar 2011 20:52 UTC)

haha Nice… I want one of those Burgers

RTKabuto (9 years ago - 02 Mar 2011 22:24 UTC)

LoL Shoulda had Lou’s but Giordano’s is alright too. Don’t forget to have a good beef sandwich before you go too (with the peppers) from portillo’s or Jimmy’s Hot Dogs. Or you can also find a place that sells pizza puffs (they are to die for LoL)

Aside from that, GL man keep it up.

veeRob (9 years ago - 02 Mar 2011 23:06 UTC)

Won my 4pm. Super nice guy, but he made moves at the wrong time. Guaranteed $4,275 for making top 16. Next match at 9pm. Off to go figure out my flight alternatives.

veeRob (9 years ago - 03 Mar 2011 06:40 UTC)

Busted in round 5. Totally ridiculously.

Match started well… turned trips against top pair and got paid. Had him almost 3-1 in chips when I 5-bet all in with 99 and he called off with 55. He flopped a set to double up and take a slight chip lead. And that was less than 15 minutes into the match.

A few hands later, I had 99 again and 3-bet from the BB. He called. Flop A97 rainbow, and I make a comment how I would love to have pocket nines on that flop (lol). I bet, he called. Turn 4, putting 2 spades on board, he check raises all in and I snap call. He has AsTs, and he hits the queen of spades on the river to bust me.

Like I said, pretty ridiculous, and not the way I wanted things to end, obv.

Not sure of my official placing, but it was 16th-ish. $4,275. Will try to get payouts going as quick as I can, but online funds are hard to come by for me (my Stars account got locked when I transferred too much post-HPT win). Please try to be patient.

OK, off to go spend 1/2 of my profits on a flight home. :/

veeRob (9 years ago - 03 Mar 2011 06:47 UTC)

Yeah, definitely don’t have enough on CMU to pay out everyone. Can I please get a call for volunteers to get paid on Full Tilt? If you can PM me with your Full Tilt info, I will get you paid within a few days. Alternately, if CMU is your only option, please PM me that as well. We’ll get it sorted out as quick as I can. Thanks.

If I somehow missed paying you, please drop me a line.
