My name is Chaz Gill, im 20 years old and I live in San Antonio, Texas.
I first started playing online when I was 14, my dad would transfer me 20 bucks and I would play the 5.50 sngs, 9/18/27/45 max. I think I lost like 400 bucks, which I had accrued mowing my lawn for like a year. I did fine in the sngs, but would take it to mtts and cash games and get crushed (not much has changed with mtt's lol). I've been at the very least a marginally winning player since I was 15.
I played as a hobby until Summer of 09, when I started playing on Cake and was basically a RB grinder. I played on Cake from June-August of 09, and made maybe 100 bucks. In September, I transferred my 400 dollar roll to FTP and things really took off in the cash games.
Throughout September, I worked my ways up from 25NL to 100NL fullring and started experiencing success. By October, my roll was getting healthy, and I started the month with probably around 2500 bucks grinding 100NL. In October, I had my best month ever. I made about 5-6k with RB (including a very successful shot at 1kNL, where I won 2300 bucks and change in 145 hands).
November was pretty much a disaster. I took way too many shots (100+ buyin mtt/200NL) and lost a large chunk of my BR. At one point my BR above 7k, but by the end of the month, it was probably around 2.5k after a combination of losing my ass in MTT and cashing out.
Starting in December, I decided to go back to SNG and once again found alot of success in them. I exclusively grinded 22+2 STT on FTP and made alot of money, around 3800 with RB, and it boosted my confidence a ton. At this point, I once again had a healthy BR and I felt like, heading into 2010, I had a bright poker future.
In January, I took a trip to a casino and lost like 1.2k and it hurt, obviously. I decided to go away from SNGs because they can get tedious very quickly, and switched back to Cash. I made a modest 1k in January with RB on FTP, and decided I wanted to switch it up and went back to Cake to play cash games.
I basically broke even from Feb. 1st until April 1st, and my bank account and poker bankroll were not looking healthy. I had about 1k to my name, and 400 of it was on Cake. After a brief try playing Stars, I once again went back to FTP, and from April until near the end of May, I made nearly 7k playing cash on FTP.
Then, May 29, 2010 came. At this point, I was grinding 200NL, and feeling really good about my game.
In 2 days, I lost 3k.
I was pretty crushed, and moved back down to 100NL in June.
In June I won back about 1800 of my losses. Nothing special, just grinding 100NL.
Last month was pretty brutal. I broke my personal record for hands played in a month, and put in over 78k hands, only to lose 1300 bucks and run like absolute garbage (Iron man bonus/rush poker week/RB made it a profitable month tho, thankfully).
Now, I have cashed out most of my remaining roll to enjoy it and will try my luck at CMU for the month of August. I will be grinding SNG in the meantime to keep the money flow up.
Best of luck to all the people I stake. I'm looking forward to some good profits and some sick sweats.
